About ReHouseOverviewThe objective of ReHouse is to recycle parts of houses that would otherwise be discarded. We accomplish this by salvaging architectural items and offering them for sale at the ReHouse Store. We got our start by arranging and conducting salvage auctions where we would sell the nonstructural parts of a house that was scheduled for demolition or major renovation. Our first auction was held in September 2003 followed by several large, successful auctions over the next year and a half. While the auctions were popular and allowed us to recycle tons of house parts, they were relatively inefficient in achieving our objective. So, in June of 2005 we opened the ReHouse Store. The ReHouse Store is a warehouse full of architectural salvage. It offers a 12,000 square foot inventory of salvaged items for sale to the general public. There are a wide variety of items for sale such as doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, wood trim, appliances, and antiques. Check the New Arrivals page for an example of some recent additions. The inventory is acquired from a variety of sources including small remodeling projects, demolition sites, and donations from the general public. We are always looking for sources of salvaged items. If you know of a house demolition or major remodeling project coming up, please give us a call. Or, if you have a door, kitchen cabinet, lighting fixture, or any other used “house part” that is too good to throw out, give us a call. We accept quality salvaged items at the store during business hours or will pick up items of sufficient value from your home or work site. For remodeling contractors, we offer removal and disposal services. If your job requires removal of significant amounts of salvageable materials, our fee is likely to be much less than the cost for your crew and disposal expense. ReHouse is based in the Rochester, NY area and salvage projects are currently limited to the greater Rochester area. The ReHouse Store is located at 1473 E. Main St., Rochester, NY Getting Materials to ReHouse - Acceptance PoliciesWhen donating items to ReHouse we recommend that you contact us by phone or e-mail, ahead of time.
